Management Bios
Bob Herzig, P.E. As President of the firm, Bob oversees all functions of Herzig Engineering. He supervises managers and technicians during all phases of Arc Flash Assessments and is directly involved to ensure we meet and frequently exceed our client’s expectations. Bob has over twenty years of experience in electrical engineering design and consulting for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
Bob previously taught Power Systems Design at the university level and was a pioneer in providing Arc Flash Hazard Assessments. He has provided Arc Flash Hazard Assessments for a variety of Fortune 500 clients including conducting Electrical Safety training seminars per the NEC®, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and IEEE 1584.
Bob received his BSEE from the University of Missouri at Rolla and obtained his MBA from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in numerous states and is a member of the Electric League of Missouri and Kansas, NFPA, International Association of Electrical Inspectors, and NCEES.
Bob Marshall As our Engineering Manager, Bob is responsible for supervising personnel during all phases of Arc Flash Analysis Studies including data collection, one-line diagram creation, fault calculations and label generation. In addition, he can provide training for Arc Flash Safety per the NEC, OSHA, and NFPA 70E. Bob has supervised and provided hands-on experience for studies completed for several Fortune 500 clients including the following:
· Tier 1 automotive suppliers
· Motorcycle production facilities
· Fiberglass manufacturers
· Power Generation plants, and
· Metal and plastic container manufacturers
Bob is a graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Electrical Engineering. He worked for a major automotive manufacturing plant for over 30 years developing experience in design, implementation and management of power distribution systems, material handling systems, plant services, hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics prior to joining our firm.
Merrell Young Merrell’s 15 plus years in the commercial/industrial electrical field serve him well as an Engineering Technician. He is a Block and Associates Certified Master Electrician. His electrical background and his excellent computer skills enable him to understand the diverse electrical information he obtains during data collection as well as input and analyze that data in our professional Arc Flash engineering program.
Merrell has extensive hands-on knowledge of 480v 3-phase electrical systems, 277v lighting systems, and MCC power systems in addition to his in-depth understanding of the policies and requirements of the NFPA 70E and the National Electrical Code (NEC). He is also responsible for generating labels and reports once the Arc Flash Analysis is completed.
